The World’s First Surf Wax Library Launches in Barbados!
If you surf, you know how much it sucks to need wax and not have any.
If you don’t surf, wax is what surfers put on their boards for traction – without it, we’d slip right off. But the bigger problem is that surf wax comes in small, soap-sized bars that seem to magically disappear when you need them most.
So we came up with a solution. I’m pretty stoked about this idea and excited to see it spread around the world.

World’s First Surf Wax Library Launches in Barbados!
Surfers know the struggle: you’re amped to hit the waves, but your board’s traction is shot, and no one around has any extra surf wax you can borrow. That ends today with the launch of the world’s first Surf Wax Library, a simple yet revolutionary solution brought to life by CORUS Sparkling Rum Punch. (Photos)
Inspired by the free book exchange libraries seen on sidewalks worldwide, the CORUS Surf Wax Library is a small, weatherproof wooden box – like a birdhouse for surf wax – where surfers can use some, leave some, and never be waxless again. The first-ever Surf Wax Library is now open at Drill Hall Beach, a beloved local surf spot, colloquially known as Brandends, Brandon’s, or Branden’s” Beach by surfers in Barbados. (Map)
The concept was developed by Eran Thomson, Creative Director of CORUS, and Alex Weetch (Strategy Lead), in partnership with, Last Resort Surf Co, who will help keep the Surf Wax Library stocked.
“With the Surf Wax Library, we’re solving a problem every surfer knows too well – not having enough wax when you need it most,” says Eran Thomson. “But beyond convenience, this is about building a stronger surf community. CORUS exists to elevate the vibe everywhere we go, and this is just one small way we’re making life a little better for surfers.”
Alex Weetch, Head of Strategy at CORUS adds, “Brandends Beach is my regular pre-work surf spot and it makes me happy to be able to contribute something like this to the local surf community – I hope the idea spreads worldwide!”
The Surf Wax Library is a community effort. Surfers are encouraged to contribute their own bars of wax – new or used – to help keep it stocked. Partially used bars are welcome, “even the tiniest bit of extra wax can help take someone’s surf session from sad to full stoke,” says Thomson.
The best part? The Surf Wax Library is open source. CORUS will publish DIY build plans on their website so other surf communities can put up wax libraries at their favorite breaks. More wax, more waves, more joy. (Plans)
Surf media, beverage industry media, creative advertising/marketing media, lifestyle bloggers, local news outlets, and all surfers are invited to experience the Surf Wax Library firsthand at its official launch event on February 23, 2025, at Brandons Beach (Drill Hall, Barbados) as part of the Surf Club’s “Unconventional” Surf Competition. Interviews, images, and additional details are available upon request.
